Commuting
Prague has an excellent and reliable public transportation system, including metro (subway), trams, and buses. There is also reliable night tram service. Students will be provided with a one-week travel pass. This pass entitles for unlimited travel on the Prague's public transportation system, including night tram service.
Accommodation Students will be staying in double occupancy rooms at the Hotel SCKCH (venue of CDPE 2010), ten minutes from the Prague city center. The Hotel is situated in Vinohrady, a beautiful part of Prague next to the historic heart of the city. Students will have easy access to the Old Town by inexpensive metropolitan transport system (tram or metro) or by taxi. Each suit of two rooms is equipped with a private shower, WC, color TV with satellite, internet connection and telephone.
Computer Facilities Several computers with internet connections will be available to students at the CDPE 2010 venue. In addition, there are many internet cafes around town, including free internet access at the Globe Café (free hook-up for laptops as well).
Meals Meals will include breakfasts served in the hotel restaurant and dinners. Students will be responsible for their own lunches. Students can choose from many options for lunch. There are ubiquitous McDonalds, KFC, and other fast food restaurants here, as well as other international cuisines. But we advise you to try traditional Czech food. Food in the Czech Republic is delicious and reasonably priced (an average lunch meal with main dish, side dish, drink, and tip costs around 5 EUR). A variety of dining options surround the Institute’s venue and there are a number of excellent restaurants in the city. There are also grocery stores located near the hotel.
